Hypertension

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension refers to blood pressure that is higher than normal. Blood pressure changes throughout the day based on physical activity, stress, anxiety, and other factors. Having blood pressure measures that are consistently above normal may result in a diagnosis of hypertension.

Most people with high blood pressure may not show any signs or symptoms.  A few people with high blood pressure may have headaches, shortness of breath, or nosebleeds but these signs and symptoms aren’t specific and usually don’t occur until high blood pressure has reached a more advanced stage.
